  1. Songbird

From the recording Songbird

"Songbird" is a song about grief. I wrote it after experiencing a reality-shattering loss—an attempt to make sense of the world I now live in. This song is my way of holding onto something that feels lost, searching for meaning in the echoes of what once was.

The A section is a ballad, painting a picture of nature’s beauty and solitude, filled with longing to hear the songbird sing back to me. The B section is the explosion of emotion—the raw, unfiltered grief that came when the songbird was gone. This song is about reconciling with loss, and I hope that everyone who listens finds some reconciliation for themselves.

Lyrics

Winter falls
The springtime calls
But I’m not done at the fire just yet
A lover calls
The rain is falling
The warmth is fading
Tot yet

I hear the songbird singing softly back to me
Reminds me of a long lost dream that I might never see
Time goes on and time so do I
I’ll pour another drink to share with you
When I see you again

Ahhhhh
Ahhhhh
Ahhhhh
Ahhhhh

In your final days did you feel the light
I’m blinded without you my side

I’m so sorry that I couldn’t save you
You were the voice the face to break through

If you’ll indulge me
I’d like a small rewind
I never got the chance to say good bye

You left
You were brave
Every chance that you had you gave
That little songbird a wave
